Classic cocktails and vintage drinks: The "Harvey Wallbanger" recipe and historic information.

The "Harvey Wallbanger" was popular at Pancho's Bar, Manhattan Beach, California, in 1968.  It was created as a way to showcase the new product Galliano much earlier, in the 1950's when it was invented.

Galliano, is a sweet herbal infused liqueur invented in 1896 in Italy. It is 60 proof.

The Myth
The myth of this classic cocktail goes that the "Harvey Wallbanger" was named after a mythic surfer who would drink them and bang into the walls. Well that is how the story goes anyway. Still semi-popular among the surfer crowd.

The History
The Harvey Wallbanger is said to have been created in 1952 by mixologist Donato 'Duke' Antone.
Among Duke's other mixed drink creations are the Rusty Nail, the Flaming Caesar, the White Russian, the Freddie Fudpucker, and the Godfather. Quite a list.

Listed as a IBA Official Cocktail.
